Event Management is designed to facilitate a retail specific business activity to
increase sales, for example a promotion.
Retailers face increasing competition and eroding margins;
customers have become more and more price sensitive and will wait for promotional
deals. Many retailers have resorted to spending more money on promotions and have
increased their frequency.
If a retailer runs a promotion well by using applications that support them, they
can create a competitive advantage. A key success factor is the use of an efficient
mechanism to guide stores running the promotion, providing collateral and relevant
data, and being able to monitor implementation.
Event Management enables a group of stores to be selected to take part in an event.
The event is set up, scheduled, and approved before stores are informed and relevant
collateral and data is made available to each participating
store. The progress of the event can be monitored centrally on a store by store basis. Questions from
stores are managed, with the responses being made available to all participating
stores where appropriate.
Other potentially
affected business processes (procurement, logistics, sales
prices, media, arrangement,
vendor collaboration etc.) may be associated to the Retail Event and can be provided
using Metastorm BPM or the Event Management process can be integrated with other
systems providing these functions.
